APC chief sues Alison-Madueke

The South-East zonal spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress, Mr. Osita Okechukwu, on Tuesday, dragged the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, before a Federal High Court in Abuja over the minister’s refusal to grant him access to information he requested under the Freedom of Information Act.
According to a statement by the APC chief, he had written the minister requesting information concerning Nigeria’s crude oil swap variant and the certification of subsidy for the importation of kerosene and petrol by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation from January 2012 to date and has got no response.
He said, “As usual with the corporation’s secrecy in its operations, the minister ignored the letter and blatantly refused the release of the information requested. Following the minister’s neglect and refusal to comply with the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 2011, I approached the court seeking amongst other reliefs, the declaration that the minister’s refusal to release the information he requested for amounts to a violation of section 7 (1) of the Freedom of Information Act, and therefore, wrongful, illegal and unconstitutional.”
Okechukwu pointed out that as a public servant, Alison-Madueke was obligated to provide him with the information he requested since March this year.
He added that his application requesting for the information was duly served on the minister on the March 20 through DHL courier service and that in breach of Section 4 of the Act, the minister completely ignored his requested for the information.
He noted that Section 4 of the FOI Act provides that if the public institution considers that the application should be denied, the institution shall give a written notice to the applicant that access to all or part of the information will not be granted, stating reasons for the denial and the section of the FOI Act under which the denial is made.
Okechukwu therefore asked the court to make an order directing the minister to pay the sum of N5, 000 as penalty for the wrongful denial of his right of access to the information he sought as well as N1m notice in general damages.
At the proceedings, Okechukwu’s lawyer, Mrs. Justina Obono-Obla, told the court that her client sought a judicial review by way of mandamus to compel the minister to comply with his request and release the information he requested for.
The trial judge, Justice Gabriel Kolawole fixed ruling on the application for Thursday (today).

2 rules of life

“Life has two rules: #1 Never quit #2 Always remember rule # 1.”
RULES OF SUCCESS: By IYOGUN KELVIN AYODEJI

1. SELF DISCOVERY.
2. HAVE A MISSION AND VISION STATEMENT.
3. WORK WITH LIKE MINDS- Iron Sharpens Iron.
4. NEVER ACCEPT DEFEAT NOR FAILURE.

                                         SELF DISCOVERY.
1. SELF DISCOVERY: Self discovery is also known as potential discovery, and its the first state of mind one should have while growing up and also should invest in your potentials and build on it till its solid. According to Aristotle "Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom". Has your comfort zone become your prison? Imagine yourself free.

This 5 steps to self discovery has helped through years and i want to share it with you, my people of Ogun waterside, most especially you the leaders of tomorrow, yes you.

STEP 1: Ask and acknowledge your unique purpose - Ask yourself what do you truly desire to be / do / have? What do you feel compelled to do?

STEP 2:Have the courage to be totally honest - What assumptions have you made about yourself and others? Self-acceptance and facing issues honestly give you the opportunity to uncover the truth and live life with integrity. Living in integrity will not allow you to short-change yourself by staying with the status quo.

STEP 3: Find a Buddy - Ask someone you trust to support you in your journey of self-discovery and tell them how they can help. When people understand how your personal growth benefits them and the world (because you are showing up authentically and on purpose), you will be supported in bursting out of your comfort zone to create the life of your dreams!

STEP 4: Embrace change - Dare to dream, take big steps forward. You don't need to know everything before you proceed; and yes, there's no such thing as a mistake when you're bursting out of prison. Whatever appears is there for your greater good; a learning opportunity.

STEP 5:Celebrate – Choose something daily to celebrate. Rejoice in all that you are attracting and creating.

FINAL THOUGHT ON RULE 1. SELF DISCOVERY.

Imagine yourself bursting out of your prison, arms akimbo, jumping up and down, eyes wide open and a BIG grin on your face! You did it, you took the leap. Now look around and see yourself into your new future; the future created by you, just for you. Doesn't that feel good!
Commit Today to do whatever it takes to turn yourself loose - throw away beliefs, attitudes and expectations that get in the way of your ability to create your best life NOW!
